Yang Yang (played by Pan Yang), a girl from Northeast China, escapes to a village in Shandong after going into debt due to her investment in a live streaming company that went bankrupt. There, she checks into the only family-run guesthouse in the village, managed by Aunt Sun. Aunt Sun is a housewife who runs the guesthouse, and she uses a tactic of crying, throwing tantrums, and threatening to hang herself to successfully pull her son Da Guang (played by Gong Tiankuo), who has been working in Beijing for many years with no career progress, back home. After a series of unsuccessful blind dates, Da Guang has no interest in marriage and just wants to seek his fortune in Beijing. However, Aunt Sun has given a strict order that Da Guang is not allowed to work but must find a girlfriend to marry. When Yang Yang is unable to fend off debt collectors, she decides to seek help from her father, Old Yang. To secure investment, she lies and claims that the guesthouse she is staying in is her successful business. Old Yang is quite happy but insists on sending an accountant to investigate. Faced with this new lie, Yang Yang finds herself in a predicament. Consequently, Yang Yang and Da Guang make a deal: she pretends to be Da Guang's girlfriend, allowing him to return to work, while Da Guang pretends to be her boss, helping her secure her father's investment. They hire villagers to play guests, forming a temporary team to create the illusion of a thriving business. However, they soon discover that one lie requires more lies to cover it up, and the situation gradually spirals out of control, eventually surpassing their ability to manage it.
