However, during the peaceful times, Kyūtarō finds himself without a place to utilize his skills, wandering in Edo for a long time without finding a job. Now, he is back in his hometown of Kaga, where he endures various mockeries from his mother-in-law (played by Kaoru Kinomoto). One day, his mother-in-law helps him secure a job as a swordsmanship instructor in the Tosa domain in Shikoku. Although the journey is long, it offers a chance to earn pocket money and escape his mother-in-law’s overwhelming aura, so Kyūtarō sets off to the southern island with Tamakichi. However, this journey turns out to be full of twists and turns; on the way, Kyūtarō’s luggage is stolen by a mysterious ninja (played by Hōka Kinoshita), which is actually part of a plan set up by his mother-in-law to force Kyūtarō into divorce from her daughter, Aki (played by Megumi Yokoyama). Despite this, Kyūtarō boards the boat to Tosa. He endures hunger and storms, facing many dangers before finally arriving at his destination. However, what awaits him are unimaginable trials and adventures…
