Tang Baojia (played by Zhang Fengyi) is a handsome and upright commoner who, under pressure from his parents and the harsh reality, elopes with his beloved woman Lu Yao (played by Guan Zhiling). However, he unexpectedly gets caught and sentenced to death. The treacherous court official Wei Zhongxian is organizing his own Jinyiwei team and takes a liking to Tang Baojia, who is imprisoned.
