In the ancient Nara region of Japan, the neighboring Kagu Mountain, Unebi Mountain, and Miminashi Mountain give rise to a poignant love poem of two men and one woman, lasting through the ages. In a small village deep in the mountains called Bosenai, lives a group of people content with solitude. The dyer Kaya (played by Oshima Yoko) and local history editor Tetsuya (played by Akikawa Tetsuya) are a couple living together, their emotions reduced to silence, and their companionship merely a habit. On the other side of the village resides the weary artist Takumi (played by Komizu Tota), a woodcarver who settles in an uninhabited house, coexisting peacefully with the swallows nesting on the ceiling light. Takumi and Kaya are childhood sweethearts, and their long-awaited reunion ignites the hidden flames of love in their hearts. Their delayed emotions seem to trace back to their ancestors. Amidst the looming ruins of Fujiwara-kyo, the love triangle of these two men and one woman reaches a decisive crossroads… This film is adapted from the original work "Ain't No Meeting" by Sandou Masako.
