Einar (Robert Redford 饰) has a sorrowful past; a car accident took the life of his son Griffin (Trevor Moss 饰), and the perpetrator of this accident is none other than his daughter-in-law Jane (Jennifer Lopez 饰). Furious, Einar cannot forgive Jane's mistake, and in desperation, Jane has no choice but to flee with her unborn child. Now, Einar lives on a ranch in Wyoming. In addition to herding cattle, he takes on the responsibility of caring for his old friend Mitch (Morgan Freeman 饰), who was injured by a bear.
