The film is directed by Italian bestselling author Federico Moccia, who has directed several films and this is the first time he has adapted his own novel for the screen. The original novel has sold 1.1 million copies in Italy, and the film set a box office record in recent years by earning $15 million in its first 10 days. 37-year-old Alex (played by Raoul Bova) is successful and handsome, but he has just been dumped by his girlfriend. On his way to work, Alex accidentally hits a teenager named Niki (played by Michela Quattrociocche) who is rushing to school, damaging her scooter in the process. 17-year-old Niki is headstrong and insists that Alex drives her to school, even asking for his phone number.
