Living in Manhattan, Liv (Kate Hudson) and Emma (Anne Hathaway) are like sisters, having grown up together. One day during their childhood, they witnessed a magical wedding at the Plaza Hotel on Fifth Avenue, and from that moment, the dream of holding their own weddings there took root in their hearts. Fast forward over twenty years, Liv has become a successful lawyer while Emma teaches at a school, both having found love. As their wedding dates approach, the two girls hustle to prepare for their ceremonies and agree to be each other's maid of honor. However, they don’t expect that not only will both ceremonies take place at the Plaza Hotel, but they also hired the same officiant, and to make matters worse, their weddings are on the same day. This means one of them will have to make a concession. To fulfill their childhood dream, the two friends refuse to back down, leading to an intense and humorous battle of the brides...
