As a novice lawyer, Mitch (played by Tom Cruise) is fortunate to catch the attention of a prestigious law firm that not only values his position but also provides substantial financial support to him and his wife Abby (played by Jeanne Tripplehorn). With his straightforward, kind nature and strong sense of justice, Mitch is excited to make a name for himself in the legal industry. However, as time passes, he realizes that the cases handled by the firm are far more complicated than they seem. In addition to the mysterious deaths of lawyers, the firm has extensive illegal connections with organized crime. Young Mitch finds himself at a crossroads in life: should he go along with the firm's arrangements and become complicit, or bravely stand up and risk his life to assist the police in investigating the firm's true nature? Mitch has already found his answer.
