Collini (Franco Nero) is a diligent worker who has toiled for decades, and one day, he surprisingly turns himself in to the police, claiming he has killed a man named Meyer (Manfred Zapatka). Ryan (Elyas M'Barek) is the lawyer assigned to defend Collini, and this is his first case as a rookie. In fact, Meyer is an old acquaintance of Ryan, who had received many favors from him in the past. Meanwhile, Ryan's opponent Richard (Heiner Lauterbach) is a very experienced courtroom veteran. Throughout the search for the truth, Collini remains silent, making it impossible for Ryan to do his job. However, as the investigation advances, Ryan discovers that he is about to uncover a huge dark secret that shrouds German legal history.
