Professional massage therapist Eva (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is a divorced woman of ten years with a rebellious teenage daughter. At a party, she is introduced to a poet, Marianne, by a client; and later, through another friend, she meets a middle-aged divorced man named Albert (played by James Gandolfini). Initially, she is not fond of the overweight Albert, but after their first date, she discovers some attractive qualities about him, and they quickly establish a relationship. Meanwhile, the poet Marianne also becomes one of Eva's clients, frequently coming over to give her massages, and they develop a close friendship. Marianne discusses the flaws of her ex-husband, and Eva realizes that Marianne's ex is none other than her boyfriend, Albert! She begins to notice Albert's shortcomings more and more. How should she maintain her relationship with Albert?
