"Nyad" is an extraordinary true story about resilience, friendship, and the triumph of the human spirit, telling the incredible life story of world-class athlete Diana Nyad. Thirty years ago, Diana (played by four-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening) gave up long-distance swimming to become an outstanding sports journalist. At the age of 60, she became obsessed with completing an epic swim that she had always failed to accomplish: a 110-mile journey from Cuba to Florida, known as the "Mount Everest of swimming." Determined to be the first person to complete this swim without a shark cage, Diana embarked on an exhilarating four-year journey with her longtime friend and coach Bonnie Stoll (played by two-time Oscar winner Jodie Foster) and a dedicated team of sailors. This inspiring film is the directorial debut of Oscar-winning documentary producers Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin ("Free Solo," "The Rescue"). "Nyad" is produced by Andrew Lazar (p.g.a.) and Teddy Schwarzman (p.g.a.) with a screenplay by Julia Cox, adapted from Diana Nyad's memoir "Find a Way."
