Here is the metropolis of Milan, where the economy is thriving, and amidst the dazzling prosperity, crime is destined to rise. Santo Russo is a Calabrian who grew up in the Italian inland. After indulging in petty theft in the suburbs for a while, he ended up in a juvenile prison. Later, he decided to follow his ambitions and survive through crime. In just a few years, he grew to become a mastermind in a powerful and terrifying gang, commanding a group of armed thugs, and continuously engaging in various dirty yet lucrative businesses: robbery, kidnapping, drug trafficking, money laundering, and, most shockingly — murder. In his relentless pursuit of wealth and social satisfaction, Santo Russo oscillates between two women: his obedient and loyal wife and his beautiful, elegant, and unattainable mistress. He faces two completely different life choices, and he himself has two entirely opposing faces. Santo's criminal deeds are filled with inevitable choices and painful experiences: the life and death of others, passionate love, or the desire for family, a dreamlike middle-class life, or brutal social struggles. "Merciless Brutality" is a narrative that spans a quarter of a century, set against the backdrop of the Italian mafia, telling the story of Santo Russo: in the golden age characterized by fashion, abundant wealth, avant-garde art, and the rise of disco music, a yuppie mafia member navigates the ever-changing and dazzling reality of Milan. Renato De Maria serves as the director of this film, while co-writing with Valentina Strada and Federico Gnesini. The film is inspired by "Manager Calibro 9" written by Pietro Colaprico and Luca Fazzo. Riccardo Scamarcio plays Santo Russo, with other cast members including Sara Serraiocco, Alessio Praticò, Alessandro Tedeschi, and Marie-Ange Casta. Producers: Angelo Barbagallo and Matilde Barbagallo Production companies: BIBI FILM and RAI CINEMA
