"The Grey Soul" is adapted from the novel of the same name by Philippe Claudel (2003 Renaudot Prize). The film traces back to the World War I era, telling the story of that time. In 1917, in a village close to the front line that had yet to be scorched by war, a little girl was murdered. The location of her murder was just a stone's throw away from the prosecutor's residence. For many years, this prosecutor lived a secluded life, guarding his secret alone. The investigation of the case is led by Judge Milk, who has been scorned and insulted by the prosecutor for a long time. Thus, the investigation becomes a wicked game where creating suspects is more important than uncovering the truth. In such a bloody era, who is the victim? Who is the murderer?
