Once, Napoleon (played by Marlon Brando) fell in love with a beautiful girl named Désirée (played by Jean Simmons). As time went by, Désirée's affection for Napoleon deepened, and she even sacrificed a large amount of money to support the man she loved the most. However, Napoleon soon realized that Désirée could not help him achieve his political ambitions, and he began to pursue the socialite Josephine (played by Merle Oberon). Heartbroken and filled with sorrow, Désirée became the wife of General Bernadotte (played by Michael Rennie). Later, Napoleon rose to power and ultimately reached the pinnacle of authority, while General Bernadotte openly opposed Napoleon's rule. After the battle of Moscow, the defeated Napoleon was exiled to a deserted island, yet his ambition remained. Désirée intervened to persuade him, hoping that her former lover could abandon war and accept his exile.
