Zatoichi, captured for illegal gambling, was asked by the yakuza Jimizo, who had been sentenced to death for a crime he didn't commit while in jail, to seek help from his brother, either Senpachi of the Kuroba gang or boss Jubei of the Araiso gang, to prove his innocence. The next morning, after leaving the prison, Zatoichi met with the young yakuza Hyakutarou, but he was angered when he received an extravagant welcome at the home of Kamajuu from Aota, who had a deep connection with Zatoichi, and parted ways with Hyakutarou. Just in time, Zatoichi arrived, using his signature backhand cut to defeat Jubei's henchmen and forced Jubei to write a declaration proving Jimizo's innocence. It was then that Zatoichi learned from Ochiyo that Hyakutarou was Jimizo's son. He promptly delivered Jubei's letter to Jimizo, who was to be executed. After Jimizo, crying tears of joy at being proved innocent, Zatoichi's solitary figure vanished into the sand dunes of Kashimanada, followed desperately by Oko...
