On a night in 2012, Tsuneo (Ryousuke Yamada), Shouta (Nijirou Murakami), and Kouhei (Kan-ichirou Hirano), who grew up in an orphanage, committed a robbery against a female entrepreneur. After their car unexpectedly broke down, they hurriedly fled into a grocery store that had long been closed. This store, called the Grief Care Grocery Store, was previously run by the kind and humorous old man Yuujirou Namiyashi (Toshiyuki Nishida), who, decades ago, jokingly helped children solve their worries. As his fame grew, people began consulting him about life's problems. Despite being shut down since 1980, the store received letters of concern after the three broke in. They soon discovered that these letters were from a distant past. On this mysterious night, lost youths took up the pen to help others with their troubles, intertwining their fates with this Grief Care Grocery Store... This film is adapted from the popular novel of the same name by Japanese mystery writer Keigo Higashino.
