This movie is a lively and festive northeast rural New Year comedy. It tells the story of Jiang Dawei (played by Yang Zhigang), the former first secretary, who helps the last five "poverty alleviation nail households" in the impoverished Laoshāoguō Village in Northeast China. Jiang Dawei returns to Laoshāoguō Village, where he once fought, carrying special anti-poverty funds allocated by a certain unit in Beijing, braving the heavy snow. He personally visits the last five impoverished households in the village, eating New Year's dinner with them and understanding their true struggles. Through in-depth understanding, he effectively "prescribes the right medicine," helping villagers with bad habits of "sharp, lazy, greedy, and slick" realize the real reasons for their poverty. With Jiang Dawei's guidance and assistance, they established a technology farming cooperative, leveraging everyone's strengths and helping the five households recognize their own advantages, regaining confidence in life. Ultimately, they achieved a "double poverty alleviation," not only gaining liberation and change in spirit but also improving materially, becoming the hope and role models of the village. This film humorously showcases the emotional exchanges between people and the power of mutual assistance, conveying messages of positive energy and hope.
