The legendary singer Yao Xiaodie (played by Liu Yali) returns to Hong Kong from Canada to prepare for a commemorative performance at the soon-to-be-demolished Li Hua Palace, where she and her three sisters, Lulu (played by Luo Guanlan), Lianqian (played by Feng Weiheng), and Fengping (played by Su Yuhua), started their singing careers. In the 1960s, the shadow of war in Southeast Asia affected Hong Kong as well. At this time, the four sisters are just beginning their singing journey at Li Hua Palace. Fengping is burdened by her gambling boyfriend, pregnant yet often unable to make ends meet, ultimately disappearing into the chaos of Southeast Asia, marking the end of the carefree days for the four sisters. Xiaodie has her sights set on saxophonist Jiahao (played by Wu Dawei), but he realizes that Xiaodie's future will be far brighter than his own, leaving behind a song called “A Date with Spring” before vanishing into the crowd… This film is adapted from a famous production of the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, featuring a cast primarily from the original stage production.
