In 1968, both Chicago and the whole of America were in a period of political turmoil. Joy is a housewife who lives in the suburbs with her husband and daughter, leading an ordinary life. Joy unexpectedly faces a life-threatening situation due to her pregnancy, and she must manage to navigate a medical institution that is unwilling to help. In search of a lifeline, Joy eventually finds "Jenny," a secret organization made up of women, which provides her with a safer option and thus changes her life.
