In a quiet seaside town in southern France, a modest painter named Gaspar (played by Gregoire Leprince-Ringuet) falls in love with a girl his age, Marianne (played by Pauline Etienne). One day, they accidentally find a mobile phone, and the strange messages inside pique their curiosity, while a photo of a despondent girl on the screen seems to capture Gaspar's attention. Days later, they follow the messages and track down two individuals involved—a gaunt young man named Long (played by Swann Arlaud) and the despondent girl Sam (played by Moon Daily), who are planning to commit suicide in the mountains. Gaspar and Marianne rush to rescue them, but Long dies, while Sam miraculously survives. After this, Gaspar discovers the virtual game "Black Hole" that Sam was playing, longing to encounter the mysterious girl again, but this leads him down a perilous dark path…
