In an accident, Dominik (played by Marcello Mastroianni) saves the beautiful woman Filomena (played by Sophia Loren), and they quickly fall in love at first sight. Unfortunately, Dominik is a playboy, and over time, he becomes less devoted to Filomena and turns to other women. Filomena, though of humble origins, is dedicated to him and even resorts to some deceitful tactics to become Dominik's wife.
