Frank Castle (Thomas Jane) spends most of his life running from death. After serving in the Marine Corps, he joined the FBI. After years of living amidst gunfire and violence, Frank no longer wishes to receive daily threats to his life, leaving his family in constant fear. Thus, he decides to retire early to enjoy a peaceful life with his wife and children. However, during his last mission, a tragic accident results in the death of an innocent young man, whose father is the wealthy businessman Howard Saint (John Travolta) from Tampa. In order to avenge his son, Howard issues a kill order on Frank's family through the black market. Fortunately, Frank survives this ordeal. Seeking revenge, Frank no longer relies on the law and instead arms himself to challenge Howard directly. How will Frank face the private army assembled by Howard?
