In Rebeka's (played by Victoria Abril) childhood, her mother (played by Marisa Paredes), a famous singer, left for a distant place to pursue her career, abandoning her daughter to grow up alone. Rebeka has always wanted to keep her mother by her side, even going so far as to indirectly cause her stepfather's death, but all of this is in vain. The brilliance of her mother is so dazzling that Rebeka spends her life trying to imitate and catch up, aspiring to be like her mother. At the same time, her mother's ruthlessness and unattainable heights fill Rebeka with jealousy and hatred. She becomes a news anchor, marries her mother’s former lover, striving to make herself strong. However, when her mother returns and rekindles her romance with Rebeka's husband, it infuriates her. In a fit of rage, she kills her husband and confesses her crime. After Rebeka is imprisoned, her mother reflects on how their relationship became this way. She seeks atonement, aiming to rescue her daughter, who is in her prime, from prison so that Rebeka can continue her search for happiness.
