A film adapted from the autobiography written by Watergate whistleblowers Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward. The two are reporters for The Washington Post, and through their arduous efforts during the Watergate scandal, they uncovered the political cover-up, making both the characters and events a well-known piece of American history. The story begins with five burglars who break into the Watergate complex. What initially seemed like a minor criminal case ultimately, through the investigation of Bernstein (played by Dustin Hoffman) and Woodward (played by Robert Redford), led to a significant revelation pointing directly at President Nixon. From 1972 to 1974, from Nixon's campaign for the presidency to his re-election, The Washington Post faced increasing pressure, including threats. Editor Ben Bradlee stood on the side of press freedom and trusted his reporters, allowing Bernstein and Woodward to continue their pursuit of the truth, aided by the important informant "Deep Throat." After unimaginable twists and difficulties, the Watergate scandal ultimately resulted in President Nixon's resignation.
