Passionate detective Tomo Yashiro (played by Haru), from the Special Investigation Unit of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, visits the Kyoto Prefectural Police along with her high-IQ mentor Risa Naruumi (played by Kyoka Suzuki) and supervisor Shinji Koaka (played by Kenichi Endo). Three days ago, a strange incident occurred in Kyoto City where the body of café owner Yusuke Takemura was found with the character "男" (man) written in red ink, consisting of three connected Chinese characters. Strangely, five years earlier, two IT professionals were murdered in Tokyo, each leaving behind red ink writings of the characters "虫" (bug) and "品" (product) at their respective crime scenes, which remain unresolved cases to this day. At the crime scene, Tomo and Risa noticed that the writing left behind was also a connected character, "品". They speculated that the murderer could have struck again after five years. Although this theory was dismissed by their superior, Tomo and Risa did not give up and continued to search for the truth over time.
