College student Vanglinde (Sophie Marceau) is working hard to earn her teaching qualification. One day, at a ski resort, Vanglinde meets the charming musician Ned (Vincent Lindon). To relieve the tension and pressure of her upcoming exams, Vanglinde and Ned develop a brief romantic relationship with a mutual understanding - purely physical, no emotions involved. Unexpectedly, after one night, Vanglinde finds herself deeply infatuated with Ned, who is secretly captivated by her charm as well.
After parting, the two cannot meet frequently and can only express their feelings over the phone, leading to misunderstandings. Proud and stubborn, Vanglinde chooses to leave Ned in anger, while Ned cannot let go of his feelings for her. By a twist of fate, the two lovers, who are mutual in their affection, are on the verge of missing each other.
