A hotshot director falls head over heels for a handsome young man he meets by chance. As he grooms his male companion into a new star on screen, he finds himself sinking into an irretrievable abyss. The film reinterprets Rainer Werner Fassbinder's "Bettina's Bitter Tears," with the protagonist's gender changed from female to male, featuring an image of Fassbinder himself.
