The leader of the three heroes of the Japanese Sengoku period, Takeda Shingen (played by Tatsuya Nakadai), was known as the "Tiger of Kai." His creed was "Swift as the wind, gentle as the forest, fierce as fire, unshakable as a mountain." When Takeda Shingen surrounded the Tokugawa army at Noda Castle, poised to take Kyoto and complete his domination, he was struck by an enemy sniper's bullet and gravely injured. Before he died, he left instructions for his subordinates to conceal his death for three years. His brother, Takeda Katsuyori (played by Tsutomu Yamazaki), found a body double (also played by Tatsuya Nakadai), a thief who resembled Shingen closely, known in Japan as a "shadow warrior," who took on this important role. With the support of Takeda Katsuyori at his side, the shadow warrior transitioned from a life of crime, moved by the Takeda family's noble cause, and devotedly fulfilled his duties, convincing the Takeda family and enemies alike that he was Shingen himself. However, as the three years approached, an unexpected event occurred, revealing the shadow warrior, who was then expelled, marking the end of the Takeda family's fortunes...
