Tom suffers a layoff from his company, and as he prepares to leave, he finds himself trapped in a malfunctioning elevator with a woman named Eloise. Later, Tom learns that it was Eloise's suggestion that led the company to decide to fire him, which fills him with resentment, leading to an argument between him and Eloise.
