This film tells the story of the model soldier of the People's Liberation Army of China—Zhang Side. In the late period of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Yan'an was in the midst of a vigorous mass production movement. The orderly Zhang Side (played by Wu Jun) is honest, not good at words, never seeks credit for his good deeds, and works tirelessly, devoted wholeheartedly to the cause of the Chinese revolution.
