In Hong Kong's Temple Street, a mix of people can be found. Growing up here, Ah Miao (played by Zheng Yijian) witnesses the harsh realities of life; his father was murdered on the street when he was very young, and his mother supported him by singing risqué songs. Young, handsome, and loyal, Ah Miao has many admirers, including a good friend named Crab (played by Ge Minhui). On his birthday, while setting off fireworks in Shenzhen, he meets the beautiful rich girl Xiao Zhuan (played by Wu Qianlian). That night, when Xiao Zhuan is harassed by a thug, Ah Miao comes to her rescue and kills the thug, resulting in a four-year prison sentence. Four years later, Ah Miao is released from prison, and by this time, Xiao Zhuan has become a DJ on the radio. Through the airwaves, these two young people, who have feelings for each other, reconnect. However, due to their differing social statuses, Ah Miao struggles to adapt to the so-called upper-class lifestyle after landing a job at Xiao Zhuan's father's company. To force his daughter to break up with this "small thug," Xiao Zhuan's father resorts to underhanded tactics, leading Ah Miao into debt and getting him into conflict with the gangsters of Temple Street.
