Due to work, Zhong Youcheng (played by Tony Leung) needs to make a trip to Lantau Island. Because of the typhoon, he has to stay overnight on the island, where he meets the young girl Huixin (played by Maggie Cheung), who is also trapped there. The two fall in love at first sight, even though the man is married and the woman is set to marry in two weeks. Nevertheless, their romantic feelings cannot be extinguished. Youcheng and Huixin both understand that they cannot escape their commitments at home to grow old together, but they find solace in each other's company, deciding to meet on this small island every year on this day. No matter the weather, they return to their old meeting place to spend a wonderful evening together. During their time together, they have conflicts due to Youcheng's son and also welcome the birth of Huixin's child.
