A young Syrian refugee named Khaled has nearly lost all of his family. By a stroke of fate, he hides on a coal ship and ends up in Helsinki as a stowaway, seeking political asylum. VIKSTROM is a traveling salesman who, after winning a large sum of money at the card table, buys an unprofitable restaurant in a back street of Helsinki. After the local government decides to deport Khaled back to Aleppo, he decides to stay in the country illegally. Eventually, VIKSTROM finds Khaled sleeping in the courtyard of his restaurant and hires him as a cleaner and dishwasher. Life briefly shows us its bright side, but fate soon intervenes.
