Eilis (Saoirse Ronan) leaves her hometown, her mother, and her sister to pursue more opportunities and a broader future in America. With the help of Father Flood (Jim Broadbent), Eilis becomes a salesgirl, and her outstanding performance and relentless effort earn her the recognition and approval of supervisor Miss Fortini (Jessica Paré).
