Dian (Sigourney Weaver) is a wildlife expert specializing in gorillas. To better observe and approach the gorillas, Dian ventures alone into the primeval forests of the Virunga mountains in Rwanda, Africa. Gorillas are known for their fierce and wild nature, which means that every moment spent near them could endanger Dian's life. As time passes, the distance between Dian and the gorillas shrinks. By mimicking their calls and behaviors, Dian gradually earns the trust and affection of the gorilla group and discovers many precious insights and data. In the primeval forest, poachers are rampant, and Dian dedicates her life to an unyielding struggle against them, which makes her many enemies. One day, her body is found in her room, with evidence suggesting that this great scientist was murdered.
