Chen Nian (Zhou Dongyu) is a third-year high school student about to take the college entrance exam. The suicide of her classmate Hu Xiaodie (Zhang Yifan) plunges her life into turmoil. After Hu Xiaodie's death, Chen Nian is bullied by a trio led by Wei Lai (Zhou Ye). Although Wei Lai appears to be a well-behaved top student on the surface, she harbors malicious intentions and is inextricably linked to Hu Xiaodie's death.
By chance, Chen Nian encounters a small-time hoodlum named Xiao Bei (Yi Yang Qian Xi). Over time, the two develop a genuine bond. Xiao Bei promises to protect Chen Nian in secret from Wei Lai's bullying, but this decision triggers a series of unforeseen consequences. Officer Zheng Yi (Yin Fang), who is investigating Hu Xiaodie's cause of death, senses the strange atmosphere on campus, but his investigation faces repeated obstacles from the school authorities.
