A girl from the countryside, Bai Xiaoyu (portrayed by Qi Xi), is a master's graduate in economic management who applies for an accountant position at the fashion design company S&T. The artistic youth Xia Mi (portrayed by Guo Jingfei) studied fashion design in France, but upon returning to China, he has been unable to find work.
