Lou is a creative and dreamy twelve-year-old girl. She lives alone with her mother, Emma, who has set aside her life as a woman in recent years to focus on her daughter's growth. Their comfortable cocoon, however, hides some cracks: Emma stagnates and gently slips into melancholy while Lou becomes obsessed with Tristan, her young neighbor, neglecting her group of friends... Their bubble bursts as Emma begins a romantic rebirth and a first kiss thrusts Lou into the intoxicating years of adolescence.
