The protagonist, Wushi (played by Akira Yasuda), has been physically weak since childhood, but he has a strong mother (played by Mitsuko Baisho) who has always been by his side, providing him with careful care and endless love. A deep dependency develops between the mother and son, supporting each other through thick and thin. However, two years ago, his mother was diagnosed with cancer, and Wushi had to take on the responsibility of comforting her, vowing to do everything he could to help her. During this time, he met his thoughtful girlfriend, Mari, whose support became an important strength for Wushi as he faced his mother's illness. Despite Wushi's best efforts to fight cancer alongside his mother, she passed away in the spring of 2012. Her death brought immense pain and loss to Wushi, while his father and brothers started a new life. However, just when Wushi thought he had completely lost his mother, he suddenly received a gift left by her. This gift became a warm ray of sunlight in Wushi's heart, making him realize that although the death of parents brings great pain, it can also inspire the power to change one’s life. In confronting the inevitable theme of death, Wushi gradually learns to let go and accept, ultimately completing his farewell to his mother.
