16-year-old boy Zhang Yishan (played by Zhang Yishan) is a young overseas Chinese born in Beijing and raised in Indonesia, with limited proficiency in Chinese. In an era when Jackie Chan's martial arts films are sweeping the world, Zhang Yishan is no exception, becoming one of Jackie Chan's most devoted fans. He enrolls in a martial arts school to learn kung fu and dreams of and writes about Jackie Chan, with his biggest wish being to see his idol in person.
One day, Zhang Yishan learns that Jackie Chan is filming in Beijing at Tanzhe Temple, and in order to meet his idol, he unexpectedly decides to go back to his grandmother's house in Beijing. Contrary to his grandmother's request to study Chinese at his grandmother's (played by Tian Hua), he takes a taxi directly to Tanzhe Temple. However, due to his poor Chinese, he mistakenly tells the driver (played by Wang Xuebing) to take him to Qingshiguan instead of Tanzhe Temple. Thus, Zhang Yishan embarks on a winding and perilous journey to find Jackie Chan...
