In the 1970s, in a certain area of Shanxi. With the Spring Festival approaching, the wife suddenly passed away, leaving four young children to Ren Jianguo (played by Sun Min). He had no choice but to send his youngest son, who was born with foot disease, to a welfare home. The welfare home took the child in and named him Dang Sheng 53 (played by Lian Guan). Later, Dang Sheng 53 was adopted by Geng Ernv from Luotuofang Village (played by Cao Cuifen), who saved and scrimped to treat the boy's foot illness as he grew up.
