A surreal international metropolis, Tokyo, Japan. In a dimly lit bar, people converse in hushed tones, laughter and music fill the air. In a corner of the bar, a girl named Akiko (played by Takagi Rin), dressed in a way that contrasts sharply with her surroundings, wears an anxious expression. She is a female university student selling her laughter in such establishments to pay for her tuition. At this moment, she is entangled in a call with her suspicious boyfriend (played by Kase Ryo). Today, her grandmother has unexpectedly come to visit, but Akiko hesitates whether to go to the station to see the old woman. Already in a bad mood, the manager (played by Dian Dian)'s work arrangements further exacerbate her emotional turmoil.
