In 1782, King Jeongjo of Joseon, in opposition to the Old Doctrine, investigated corruption in various places and appointed Choi Je-geun (played by Kim Myung-min) as the chief investigator, who was an outstanding detective in Korean history. A household officer was killed for exposing corruption, and Choi Je-geun cleverly identified the true culprit, who was colorblind. However, the murderer was soon killed by an unknown assailant with an iron needle imported from Qing, and the case fell into a stalemate. After recruiting skilled thief Han Se-bil (played by Woo Da-ryuk) as an assistant, Choi Je-geun took on the task of investigating the case of the noblewoman. The niece of the leader of the Old Doctrine, Jin Hyun-young, committed suicide for her chastity. During her lifetime, she established the Aconitum Farm, promoting the idea of equality and earning the love of the slaves. After her death, the farm was managed by the beautiful Han Sang-hang (played by Han Ji-min), who had many connections with the Qing iron needles.
