67-year-old Trond, having lost his loved one, has lost "the interest in conversing with others" and is preparing to retreat to the mountains to live alone, spending the rest of his life in peace. A chance encounter with a neighbor brings back memories of that summer spent in the woods with his father, which was the last time he saw him, and his fate for the rest of his life was forever sealed that summer. The film is adapted from the representative work of Norway's most renowned writer, Nobel Prize in Literature nominee Per Petterson, and it fully absorbs the literary rhythm of the original text, leaving the audience with lingering thoughts.
