Catherine (played by Olivia de Havilland) is an ordinary girl who, like many girls her age, is a bit shy and introverted, while she also harbors beautiful fantasies about romance and love. By chance, Catherine unexpectedly comes into a large sum of money and transforms into a wealthy young woman. Her sudden wealth attracts a swarm of men who buzz around her like flies. Morris (played by Montgomery Clift) is one of them; he possesses a handsome appearance and witty, elegant conversation, which makes him quite deceitful. Catherine almost falls into the trap he sets for her. Fortunately, the wise Catherine ultimately sees through Morris's scheme, keeping both her fortune and her purity.
