This film consists of four short stories. "Ninety-Nine" features a robust craftsman who unexpectedly encounters a storm in the mountains. He takes refuge in a shrine, only to find a hidden world inside. Surrounded by discarded umbrellas and silk, the craftsman is not frightened, and he uses his needle and thread to mend these forlorn old items. "The Fire Must Be Tamed" tells the tale of Ryo (voiced by Saori Hayami), the daughter of a merchant, and Nansuke (voiced by Naruhito Morita), the boy next door, who have grown up together and developed feelings for each other. However, their differing backgrounds ultimately keep them apart. On the eve of her wedding, Ryo accidentally ignites a candle, but at that moment, she suddenly halts her thoughts of extinguishing the fire or calling for help. "GAMBO" depicts a mountain village plagued by a fearsome red demon, forcing the villagers to sacrifice a girl to survive. The last girl in the village (voiced by Mutsumi Tamura) encounters a terrifying white bear in the forest, sharing her inner struggles, and the bear, seemingly understanding, charges towards the demon's lair. "Farewell to Arms" shows an armed group of soldiers arriving in a city that has long been reduced to ruins. They are on high alert and fully prepared for battle, solely to capture an unmanned war tank.
