In the summer of 1985 in Kaohsiung, filled with the fragrance of magnolias and vibrant with youthful restlessness. In an unliberated Taiwanese campus, the instructors held all the power. In a school where there was no talk of democracy or freedom, Wang Xinren (played by Feng Xiaoyue) could not suppress his rebellious spirit; he wrote acrostic poems and planned a collective protest dance. Alongside him in this unruly behavior were Chen Zhongliang (played by Zhang Xiaquan) and Lin Meibao (played by Gui Lunmei). The three of them, often inseparable, saw love quietly growing between them. The dull Zhongliang could not understand Meibao's hints; Xinren actively pursued Meibao; yet Zhongliang, who had the earliest girlfriend, found himself confused. In Taipei in 1990. With the rising tide of student movements, A-Ren was inevitably present, and A-Liang became A-Ren's best audience. Meibao, who became A-Ren's girlfriend, occasionally came to Taipei from her hometown, and the three remained very close. A grand student assembly caught the police's attention and disrupted their bond. A-Liang chose to step out beyond the city walls; A-Ren could not resist external temptations; and Meibao, who witnessed it all, could no longer choose to ignore it. Entering society, they found their paths crossed once again after many years of no contact. Once close friends and lovers, each now bore new identities. Can they, who have suffered for love, ultimately regather their courage and return to that dreamlike hometown of 1985?
