One summer, a 6-year-old girl named Takekawa Hotaru came to her grandfather's house for a vacation. She accidentally wandered into the forest of the mountain god, which is rumored to be filled with monsters. Just when she was extremely anxious about being lost, a big boy wearing a fox mask appeared in front of her and guided Hotaru back home. Although Hotaru was very grateful, the boy forbade her from touching his body; it turned out that the boy named Gin was not human, and if touched by a human, he would vanish into thin air. In the following days, Hotaru and Gin became good friends, playing together in every corner of the forest. Day by day, year by year, every summer, Hotaru would come to the forest to meet her good friend. She kept her promise to Gin, never touching his body. As they grew older, the feelings between Hotaru and Gin quietly changed; they both looked forward to the days they would meet and hoped to embrace each other… This film is adapted from the original work by Yuki Midorikawa.
