Due to her husband Director Jia (Han Fei) opposing her, Hua Jiafang (Wang Danfeng), who is eager to become a barber, can only practice her skills at home with a chicken feather duster. When Director Jia has to go on a business trip, Hua Jiafang seizes the opportunity to become the number 3 barber at the Sanba Hair Salon. Soon, Hua Jiafang receives a letter from her husband saying he is coming home, and in her distracted state, she messes up a customer's haircut, leading to complaints. Upon arriving at the train station, Director Jia catches up with an old friend, Lao Zhao (Gu Yelu), and learns that the friend looks down on his wife because she is a restaurant server, prompting him to give him a stern lecture, although his words do not match his feelings. Director Jia, drawn by reputation, arrives at the Sanba Hair Salon, specifically requesting the number 3 barber, who holds the title of "Three Eight Red Banner Holder," to cut his hair.
