This film is a remake of the 1971 British horror film "Countess Dracula," based on true events, written, directed, and starring Julie Delpy. In 17th century Hungary, the beautiful Countess Elizabeth (Julie Delpy) is renowned far and wide. Since her husband died in war, she has lived alone in the castle as she ages. At a court ball, Elizabeth meets the handsome and passionate nobleman István (Daniel Brühl), and they fall in love. Their affair faces fierce opposition from István's father, who forcibly sends his son to Denmark and finds him a younger bride. Heartbroken, Elizabeth seeks the witch Anna's help for a beauty spell to win back her love. Legend has it that the blood of virgins has miraculous effects; to maintain her beauty, Elizabeth secretly murders 650 virgins to bathe in their blood.
